The TTT’s digital LFO is designed by Tom Wiltshire.Ĭlick here to download the Tap Tempo Tremolo build PDF. This file includes wiring diagrams, schematic, bill of materials, and details on adding useful mods. You don’t need to know anything about digital electronics to build the TTT – the PCB comes with a pre-programmed microcontroller, and you just pop it into the circuit board like any analog part (though it’s recommended that you use an IC socket instead of soldering it directly into the board). The audio path remains analog all the way through, while giving you the complexity and versatility of digital control. It then uses an optocoupler to control volume. The TTT uses a digital microcontroller to do the tap tempo and create the waveforms. It features 8 different waveforms, and the wave distort function allows you to change the character of each wave drastically. Tap again to stop the tempo sampling and set the base tempo (LED will no longer be constantly lit, but start pulsing following the tempo. Tap once to start tempo sampling (the LED should light up and stay lit). The focus is on ergonomics and playability. AJH's new module is quite big for a single LFO, but then again you will not find any submenues or displays here. The TTT covers territory from smooth and deep “throb”, through the classic “repeat percussion” effects to hard chopping square wave. Available tempo multipliers: 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2 and 4. About This Listing Same as the AJH Multi Burst Envelopes, the Tap Tempo LFO is a clockable, warpable modulation power house. Besides that, it’s a great-sounding trem, and certainly the most versatile DIY trem out there. This capability makes it easy to synchronize a rhythmic trem to the beat of your song. The Tap Tempo rate from the previous preset will not be transferred to the new preset, however. The Tap Tempo Tremolo is the first and only DIY trem project that allows you to tap in the rhythm with a footswitch. NOTE: Once activated, Tap Tempo will remain activate even if you change presets. Both the LFO LED and the LFO RATE button will begin flashing at the new rate, and the LCD will display the new rate in BPM:

When Tap Tempo is active and the Arpeggiator is running, tapping the LFO RATE button will set the rate of the Arpeggiator Clock.

This will return to the previous mode (either free running or MIDI clock). To exit Tap Tempo Mode, press and hold the LFO RATE button until it stops flashing. If the MODULATION control knob is adjusted while in Tap Tempo Mode, it will override the Tap Tempo and adjust the LFO Rate or Arpeggiator Clock to the new value. NOTE: If the Arpeggiator is set to ‘MIDI CLOCK’ when Tap Tempo is active, Tap Tempo will adjust the internal LFO Rate and not the Arpeggiator Clock. Both the LFO LED and the LFO RATE button will begin flashing at the new rate, and the bottom line of the LCD will display a status message indicating that the Tap Tempo function is active: (clock-syncable) LFO with variable skew and reset. When Tap Tempo is active and the Arpeggiator is not running, tapping the LFO RATE button will set the internal LFO Rate and override the LFO Sync Mode (see ‘LFO SYNC’ on page 27). The Quad Pingable LFO (QPLFO) from 4ms Company is a compact, playable four-channel tap-tempo, pingable. To enter Tap Tempo Mode, press and hold the LFO RATE button until it starts flashing rapidly this indicates that Tap Tempo Mode is active. Tap Tempo can be used to adjust the LFO Rate when the Arpeggiator is not running, or adjust the Arpeggiator Clock when the Arpeggiator is running. Sets either LFO speed or chop rate, depending on Tempo Target selection. The Tap Tempo function is always available for any preset in PRESET Mode. Tap Tempo is an easy and intuitive way to adjust the speed of the LFO Rate or the Arpeggiator Clock.
